A Guide on Skin Tags (Acrochordons)

remove skin tags easily

Skin tags (acrochordons) are growth associated with aging. There is no known cause of skin tag growth, but it is called benign growth, often described as a piece of flesh or skin tissue protruding from the surrounding skin.

Skin tags are a growth that hangs on a person's skin with a stalk. Although there are varieties of appearance, the majority of skin tags are slightly wrinkled and smooth with small irregularities. Because of these fleshy bumps, some people tend to be affected by the way it hangs on their skin, which contributes to more intense mental discomfort than physical.

Normally, skin tags form in clusters that can form up to one centimeter. Skin tags appear on different places of skin like the groin, below or under the breast, neckline, underarms and eyelids. Some are small enough not to be identified while others show as large as grapes. Tags are usually benign in condition and are not associated with any medical factor because it is commonly found in people who are healthy.

About 40% of the total population reports to have skin tags in their time of their life. Generally, skin tags are not present at birth which is usually acquired and may eventually arise during adulthood. Although it is more common during old age and increases in prevalence until the age of 60 and above. Toddlers and children have a high probability of acquiring skin tags around their neck and underarm. Obesity or people who are overweight also have high chances of getting skin tags for the reason that it appears in skin areas that have continuous friction and rubbing.

Elevations in hormone such as those in pregnant women can cause an increased chance of forming skin tags although once pregnancy ended; the tags will go as well.

Causes for removal

Even if tags are considered as an unusual growth, it is a harmless one and is positively benign which can’t lead to any kind of malignancy unlike moles that can lead to melanoma, a kind of skin cancer. That is why, there is no need for alarm if the tag is not removed or treated for there are not alarming threats to be concerned with.

On the other hand, there are still some who wanted to rid of their tags mainly because of how unsightly it looks on their skin most especially if it is located somewhere prominent or some wanted to remove it because of uncomfortable effects when rubbed or moved.

No matter how small or large a tag can be, it can still cause some discomfort which leads to irritability most especially if the tag keeps on having contact with parts of your body. For as long as these skin growths don’t get irritated, it will show no symptoms. Another thing, because of how these appear on the skin would probably be the main reason why people choose to have it removed.

But in some circumstances, tags must be removed because of irritating effects causing bleeding and possibly death of cells in a given area. There will be occurrences where they will be caught by pets, clothing, jewelry and even seat belts that can cause so much discomfort and pain. Even in this case, there is no evidence that skin tags are cancerous or may lead to such a stage.
